Introduction
Music has incessantly expanded its boundaries in alignment with the shifting eras and the rapid advancement of technology. While the music of the past focused on the aesthetics of specific genres or forms, today’s music has evolved into a comprehensive form of media art where artistic inspiration and cutting-edge technology converge. Our curriculum proactively embraces these temporal shifts. Based on a solid foundation of applied music, we provide a unique, world-class curriculum that integrates composition, performance, and production into a single, organic, and unified flow of education.
Contemporary music has undergone continuous evolution, taking on diverse forms amidst the massive wave of the digital revolution. In particular, the advancement of sophisticated recording technologies and the democratization of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) have fundamentally altered the very ways in which music is created and consumed. Musical creation has now moved beyond the simple act of placing notes on a score; it has expanded its expressive range into the realm of designing the sound itself and engineering spatial textures. Consequently, modern music has transcended "performance-centered" art to become a multifaceted art form where creative songwriting and meticulous production techniques combine, forming a new musical ecosystem where diverse genres and styles merge without boundaries.
The global music industry of today does not exist in isolation. It is intricately linked with a vast array of content industries, including live performance and record production, as well as broadcasting, film, gaming, advertising, and new media. Music is no longer just an object of passive listening; it has become a core element that determines the level of immersion in content and a strategic tool for shaping brand identity. These industrial shifts demand a significantly higher level of capability from modern creators. While exceptional performance skills are fundamental, a holistic understanding of the entire music production process—from composition and arrangement to production and sound design—is now essential. The definition of "Contemporary Music" within our major encompasses a wide spectrum of genres, including Jazz, Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Electronic, and Experimental music. We place our educational emphasis on the continuous exploration of new sounds and original modes of expression, rather than staying within the limits of repeating established formats. Within this flow, music creation is recognized not as a reproduction of the past, but as an innovative process of designing new structures and creating unique sonic textures.
Our curriculum is precisely engineered through a rigorous analysis of the demands and changes in the modern music market. While rooted in the methodology of applied music, we teach composition, performance, and production as a single, integrated process rather than isolated subjects.
