Sejong University (President, Jong-hwa Eom) will operate the 2026 Sejong International Summer Program (SISP) in the summer of 2026, an international summer program designed for outstanding university students from around the world. SISP is a short-term international education program planned as part of Sejong University’s efforts to advance as a global academic hub. The program is characterized by its integration of fully English-taught academic courses, research-focused internship opportunities, and immersive Korean cultural extracurricular programs. The program will be held on the Sejong University campus for four weeks, from June 29 to July 24, 2026. The program is open to undergraduate students from partner universities and other global institutions. Participating students will be able to take academic courses worth 3 to 6 credits across a wide range of fields, including AI and data science, engineering, Korean studies, bio and health sciences, and basic sciences. All courses will be conducted in English and operated in alignment with Sejong University’s summer session schedule. In addition, SISP offers a research internship track, providing students with opportunities to participate in real research projects within Sejong University’s science and engineering laboratories. Students will complete more than 160 hours of research activities in various research areas such as functional foods, food genomics, drone guidance and navigation control, and satellite geophysics. Research performance will be evaluated through final reports and presentations. Through this track, the university also aims to establish a pipeline linking outstanding international students to graduate programs at Sejong University. Alongside the academic and research components, participants will engage in K-culture extracurricular programs, including K-pop dance classes, Korean and royal cuisine experiences, and Korean culture field trips, allowing students to gain a multifaceted understanding of Korean society and culture. On Fridays, field-based cultural programs such as visits to the DMZ, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Han River cruises will also be offered. Applications for the program will open in January 2026, and early-bird applicants as well as students from partner universities will be eligible for tuition discounts of up to 20 percent. Chung-hoon Lee, Director of the Office of International Affairs at Sejong University, stated, “SISP aims to cultivate globally competent talent through high-impact learning experiences based on short-term mobility,” adding, “We will continue to expand international joint research initiatives and global education programs going forward.” |
